Belly of the Whale

April 11-20, 2025 @ Z Space

“Potent, powerful, epic dance theater.” – San Francisco Chronicle

EP's newest work, Belly of the Whale, is a multidisciplinary tragicomedy interweaving street dance, live music, spoken word, and documentary theater. Inspired by Valarie Kaur’s Revolutionary Love, Belly is a hip-hop dance theater remix of the ancient biblical myth “Jonah and the Whale” that radically challenges the cultural norms of bypass, cancellation, and “victim” and “perpetrator” binaries. This work explores explicit content and themes of harm and accountability  – featuring stories from survivors of childhood sexual abuse, incarceration, and homicide.

INTENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES.

Showing for 2 weekends in April 2025 at Z-Space. Check back soon for dates and ticket details!
